“The Committee” visit in May 2008

Our group known affectionately as “The Committee” consisted of
Colin (chairman), Andy (plod), Pete (worzel), Lawrence (wire wool) and Frank (the old boy). We set of from Thanet on May 25th in torrential rain to commence our Seminar at Lake Serene.

John (the boss) conveyed us and our worldly goods safely to the Lake where Mave (the real boss) greeted us. During the next week real friendships were formed amidst some serious fishing and side splitting laughter. Daily Committee meetings were held to discuss various misdemeanors and offences, such as casting into trees, vertical snap off landing just three feet in front of the offender and the case of the exploding throwing stick. These and numerous others were quickly punished and sentences were “executed” swiftly.

Hospitality was of the highest order and Mave provided an excellent cuisine
(weight watchers was kicked into touch). Local vineyards were under pressure to keep pace with demand. John was always there to provide advice and guidance as necessary, mostly with a beer in hand.

Considering we were at the back end of spawning, the fishing was tremendous. We caught a total of 94 Carp, consisting of 3 x 40lb+ (two of which were commons), 13 x 30lb+, 39 x 20lb+ and 39 doubles. An excellent week with every one catching a 30lb= fish. The next meeting of “The Committee is in October “bring it on”.
